I was afraid someone would confirm my worse fears. Now what I am to do?

Well, all of us here are naturally missing loved ones from home. Most of us are working together to learn more of this place and, hopefully, how to get out of it, so that we can reunite with our loved ones.

if it's not a transmit beam, how would we know?

We'd need advance scientific instruments to measure for a vortex.

So not something we can grasp at the moment.

Not unless this place has a tinker shop...

Based on my running theories we'd need something like my Tardis that can travel faster than light.

Dunno if it can make electronics, but the maker-space has an additive printer and a few other things.

I can make electronics with the right resources.

Ask someone to lead you to there, then. I'm still getting used to the place, I won't be much help.
