Resources? We got ur resources

[A note appears on the board, in ludicrously ornate penmanship because this is important. There's an earlier draft on the other side of the piece of paper, written in High Gothic, which was done before Sanguinius remembered most Imperial citizens couldn't understand or read it. So here it is again, in good, copperplate Low Gothic.]

Some of us, in our time here, have picked up skills to acquire things from the books.

If you are in need of such things, please leave a note detailing the item you want and the best type of book to find it in, and a way to reach you.

If you have other skills that might be useful to some here, please add a note stating what you can offer.

While we are trapped here, we must help each other. It is our best chance to survive and prosper while we can.

The strong have a duty to shield the weak, and the gifted a responsibility to aid those in need.

((ooc: this is a sort of general catch all--if you have a skill others might want to use, use this as a barter board, and if someone posts something they need, don't think Sanguinius has to answer all of them--feel free to jump in! ))

Mostly.

Hey, if you're questioning the quality of my work, you obviously haven't checked it out. Runs quiet as a clam and happy as a mouse. Or something.

It also needed some goddam appreciation, which no one gives to machines around here

Apparently.
[HUFF.]

I appreciate the machine spirit of my power armor very much, which is why I do not attempt my own repairs. In cases such as it I prefer to leave it to the hands of those trained specifically for that purpose. They're well-educated and highly valued for their skills. It is not a lack of quality of your work but approximately the reason you might not ask a butcher to perform surgery on your heart. Both are highly skilled, both work with meat, but do very different things with it.

[SIR you wound her.

Also, she can do heart surgery.]

Gotcha.

[He values butchers more than he values heart surgeons.]

My brother has suggested having both of you on hand may be the optimal solution.

[Nyla's no fool. She's been passed over for contracts before. It's the way of the Expanse. This whole 'what have you fixed' before was a resume check, and looking for a reason to ditch her. It ain't the first time. Won't be the last.]

Nah, I'm good
I'm not gonna be your friend's patsy, thx.

[Anyone who trusts irreplaceable artisan craftwork to randos picked up by a library without asking questions should probably not own any irreplaceable artisan craftworks.]

He is not my friend. He is my brother.

[That's even worse. Everyone's got a brother who's got a guy who can do it cheaper, blah blah. It's always a scam, nepotism, or both. Neposcam. ]

Yeah
I bet he's got a real cute girlfriend, too

who just, you know,
lives in Canada.

You will have to ask him if you wish to know his current status in finding a partner.

Not interested in that, either.

Listen. I know how this scam goes. Fell for it myself a few times.

I'm a lot of stuff, but I'm not that gullible.

Not anymore.

Well.

Since you've cleverly uncovered our nefarious plans, you might as well warn everyone who reads exactly what those plans were so they too won't be "scammed".

We'll leave off your volunteering, that muddies the water.

Go on.

Thanks for the permission, Chief.

OKAY EVERYONE: PSA TIME:
This is how this scam works:
You have the guy who thinks he can do the job, but he's not entirely sure. He's gonna try, because he wants the money or contract or bounty or whatever, but he also needs to hedge his bets.

So he brings on board someone new. A stranger. A patsy. Someone who has no social capital to fight back.

When shit goes sideways, that patsy gets the blame.

It's called being a scapegoat.

Look it up.

Oh, very well done! Now, let's continue the narrative you're constructing! What money are we gaining from it? Or contract? Or bounty?

Make it exciting. We are primarchs, we deal in entire sectors of space. A little coin won't do.

Dunno, don't care.

But you said you didn't want my help, then tried to pull a 180.

Something's up. And I'm not down for it.]

That's too bad, you had an interesting tale going, I would have liked to see how it ends.

Of my seventeen brothers, Roboute is among the most levelheaded. It is generally wise to consider his advice when he offers it, even when he is suggesting allowing an untested mortal put hands inside priceless craftsmanship. I see my first impulse was the correct one. I have no further use for you.
