What do you mean we don't even get to keep anything from our journey to that world?

What's the point of going into weird alternate worlds if we can't come out with loot?! Doesn't this place know adventurers have that as the number-three rated motivation for their work?!

There's already so much annoying and problematic about this whole thing, but that on top?!

[Long pause time, because he hadn't considered that possibility. All he knows is he met his brother who, unlike him, looked very much like himself, and Curze had tried to kill him. Multiple times. Sibling rivalry wasn't supposed to work like that!]

I'm sorry.

The hardest part of life is not letting the memories we cherish become diminished with what comes after. [His pride in his Legion, his affection for his brother Horus, and Horus's betrayal of a secret... it was hard to deal with.] Anything you craft here would possibly not do the work you want, as it would be a mere simulacrum of what you valued. But you can maybe have more of those experiences here.

The Librarius is where psykers--our sorcerers--are trained in their powers. They also guard arcane knowledge, like this place. [Sort of?]

Interesting. Sounds like a bit more than the literal library and recordkeeping that are the core missions of most of the Churches of Gnomon the Archivist.

This place... It's a library, just. By my standards, which are admittedly a bit loose, a really weird one.

It is. Our Librarians are fearsome in combat. And there are many dangerous things kept under their protection.

What are your standards? [Because that's an interesting way to phrase it. ]

Well, combat is normally not the norm; the Gnomonish Monastery is in the middle of a major city that has its guards.

I specifically am Enthused for reasons that are related to... For lack of a better phrase, a prophecy?

Less dangerous stuff, other than people who consider records dangerous. The Free City is normally enough to deter people who try for that, though.

A library that doesn't hold complete things, though? That's odd. Plus books you, uh, drop into like that. That's new. Some stuff can be chalked up to 'higher technology than I have at home', of course, but so much of the rest...

Agreed, this is not how our Libraries work, either. This is some Warp manipulation. Have you seen an actual Librarian since you've arrived?

Couldn't say for sure. Given the, uh, larger circumstances, it's more Gnomon giving me a week's notice that people were gonna show up someplace because Io was gonna teleport them there. So, prophecy in the sense of 'something's got a plan to do a thing'.

I... Yeah, no actual librarians of this library. I mean, I'm a librarian.
