What do you mean we don't even get to keep anything from our journey to that world?

What's the point of going into weird alternate worlds if we can't come out with loot?! Doesn't this place know adventurers have that as the number-three rated motivation for their work?!

There's already so much annoying and problematic about this whole thing, but that on top?!

Damn it, I had plushies and I wanted to keep them...

I think in fairness, as long as we're stuck here, any log we keep will always be incomplete I think.

Oh, and you know, while it doesn't have the same physicality to it, you could keep a sketchbook. Then you could sketch out memories of your time in the story. I know it's not the same as getting to keep something from the story itself, but that comes kind of close, doesn't it?

That's actually a good idea I should consider, true.

And yeah... The 'completeness' thing is. A thing.

Yes. Mostly because defining 'complete' seems really oddly arbitrary and a whole lot of things in this place seem fine.
