This drone is useless, wouldn't go get help-

They're not responding? Like there's a pulse but barely it's slow, there's no blood, nothing looks wrong, I can't see anything wrong, they just won't wake up and I don't know what the hell to do-

[Clearly Charles is doing Amazing here. Thriving even. He's absolutely not about 5 seconds from an epic little meltdown and is only holding it together because SecUnit needs help.]

[Sorry, Charles is about five degrees shy of utterly checking out of the situation, so the call doesn't yet get a response. The drone's definitely visible first, just hovering in place like nothing was wrong. And was it cold in this aisle of books?

Here was hoping the wet across the rug and hardwood wasn't going to damage any books, or the Librarian would get pissed. Not that Charles seemed to care about that at all, just alternating between glancing at his journal, and checking on SecUnit. The call finally seems to sink in after a moment, and the startle is almost audible in his reply.]

In fact, he looked more like a proper ghost now than he had since he'd been here, what with the pallor of his skin, the blue tinge to lips, or the deep bruiselike shadows under his eyes. And if putting a hand on him was like laying a hand on a trembling hunk of ice, well surely that was normal.]

Thorne already checked on them over the feed. They're just unconscious and should be fine after they wake. She says it was a burst of eeyempy which Charles can evidently let off? You and I and Laina needs must be careful around him for that reason going forward.

…baseline humans are not affected by EMP. The human nervous system evolved to be hardened against electromagnetic pulses.

Which means Rin has cybernetics extensive enough that disrupting those knocks them unconscious. And the healers need to know that to treat them if worse happens, cybernetics repair is well beyond the remit of most doctors.

He does wander around the stacks long enough to observe what's happening from a respectful distance, and note that Rin -- ah, the trellised human -- isn't in immediate danger.

And he recognizes the ... solid young man hovering over them. No ((outself)) on that one, but impenetrable to his sight? That's interesting. More interesting is that the Rowland boy looks exactly like he did in the Story.

Illarion will have to find out what else might have been true about that. Now's not the time to ask.
